this album sort of reminds me of why i originally fell in love with this band way back in high school
“Madeleine had become an English major for the purest and dullest of reasons: because she loved to read. Jeffrey Eugenides: “Extreme Solitude” : The New Yorker
I loved this story. It made me want to go home immediately and spend the rest of the day reading in bed. Eugenides writes well from a woman’s perspective, especially about sex. He has a way of working in the more shameful or embarrassing elements that I really admire. This story has a lot to say about love and loneliness and frustration and over-thinking everything after a lifetime in academia. I can relate.

Sunday Bloody Sunday
Things that happened today:
1. I went on an 11 mile run. ELEVEN! We did some walking, but I didn’t die, I didn’t come close to dying, and actually, I’m sort of in shape and it felt pretty awesome and enjoyable.
2. We made a big pot of chili, cornbread, and apple crisp and ate a big dinner while watching hilarious old episodes of The Office. This was also enjoyable. Matt did the chili basically on his own! The only thing I did to help was chop onions and celery.
3. I’m caught up on homework in 3 of my 4 classes. I fell behind in 3 of my 4 classes while writing my appellate brief, so it’s nice to sort of scramble back up to a good place. I’m going to go to crawl in bed early and do some recreational reading.
I’m going to try to remember days like this the next time I attempt to claim I don’t like Fall.
